Chhat puja is also called surya shashthi, chhati puja,dala chhat. This puja is mainly done to show our gratitude towards sun to give us all the things to live a successful life. It is also believed that chhati maiya bless the person who worship on this day. This festival is one of the popular festival of the great India and mainly celebrated in north India. In Uttar Pradesh and Bihar chhat is celebrated in very auspicious way. During this puja people do the pooja of sun at the rising time and setting time. People use to take bath, keep fast and offer prasad after performing pooja.

Chhat Puja Power And Importance

There are many stories related with this pooja. One is from the mahabharat time. It is said that Kunti the mother of Pandavas worshiped the god sun with special mantra and then sun blessed the kunti with the Karna and from that time this shashti tithi is used to celebrate chhat puja.

The person who are suffering from malefic effects of sun and the person who want to increase the power of sun in life both can get the benefit from chhat puja. This puja is very powerful and miraculous too. This puja is done to remove the hurdles of life, this puja is done to attract prosperity in life, this puja is done for the well being of all.

Chhat puja is celebrated after Deepawali. Chhati maiya goddess is also worshipped on this day. Generally devotees keep fast and don't use salt in any case, Some also perform very hard fast by not even take water. Ardhya is given at morning and evening time.

Chhat Puja Vidi or How Chhat is Celebrated:

Chhat pooja is the 4 day celebration and in this 4 days full excitement is seen in devotees. Here I am clearing the process which is generally used by devotees of chhat puja.

1. On the first day devotees take bath in holy river and then clean the house sprinkle holy water to attract positive energies every where. And On this day they eat only Kaddu and Bhat i.e. rice and vegetable of kaddu. This day is also called 'Nahaay and Khay'.
2. Devotees keep fast on panchmi and and this day is called 'Lohanda or kharna'. In the evening sugar less kheer, puri, bananas are used to break the fast.
3. On the third day devotees engage in making prasad by keeping themselves sacred. Every thing is cleaned properly and then used to make prasad. In the evening ardhya is given to setting sun.
4. This is the final day of chhat puja when devotees go to the bank of river in the moning time and give ardhya to the rising sun. This day is called Paarun.

On this day devotees break the fast and then visits the relatives and friends houses to distribute prasad. A big gathering is seen in the bank of river on this day.

Great celebrations are seen in the houses of devotees. Children, adults, senior citizens, every one enjoy this festival with joy.

Blessings of sun and chhat maiya is expected by devotees on this day.

What To Do On Chhat For Prosperous Life:

Now I am providing you some very easy and simple ways to get the blessings of god sun on this day which will make your life successful-

1. Chant the spell of god Surya and offer water having saffron, red flowers to sun on chhat day.
2. Recite aditya hriday strotram for successful life.
3. If sun is malefic then it is good to offer molasses, copper to a needy person on the day of chhat.
4. Do the fast without salt on this day.
5. For prosperity feed wheat to red cow.
6. Distribute Kheer of Jaggery or molasses or gud to beggars.
7. Offer chana daal in river.
8. Wear gold on this day.

So above I have given some easy way to attract prosperity on chhat day.
